Back/Story is about the differences between the lives we lead as our professional selves versus our at-home selves, which we find especially relevant today. The work explores how small, compassionate gestures can have a profound effect on others, and different characters’ ways of accepting life’s curveballs gracefully (or in some cases, not so gracefully).
Back/Story also takes on contemporary issues like the expectations for women in a single-minded, rigid work environment and the moral compromises people will make for the things they value most, but all within a playful context.
“I was charmed by the clever inclusion of the audience…by giving the audience a role the performance was transformed from something to be looked upon to something to be a part of.”
— Claire Kentner, Livein Style Magazine
